A fun event for children to find out more about farming in Devon and learn where their food comes from first hand, where they can touch, feel and even smell how farms work!

Organisation and support

The event organisation is being facilitated by a small team of staff from Devon County Council the main individuals involved in the organisation of the event are:

Jon Williams (Event Organiser)

Jon is pleased to be involved in Farm Wise Devon and has a strong personal desire to ensure that the DCC farm estate and Devon schools form close working links with each other.  Before joining DCC he worked in agriculture as an arable and business consultant for 10 years and has maintained a strong interest in agriculture since joining DCC in 1999.  Jon was closely involved in the DCC farms review in 2010 and one of the aims for the estate following the review was to generate ‘educational benefit’ from the farm estate and we fully hope that Farm Wise Devon will help to demonstrate this is possible.

Deborah Custance Baker (Chairman of Farm Wise Devon)

Deborah has a wide ranging involvement with the agricultural community – including as a pig farmer and Devon Agricultural Association Director.
She is passionate about involving and educating the young in all matters agricultural and food related. Her involvement in youth work has ranged from working with Schools to being a pony club organiser. She generates enthusiasm in everything she is involved with and Deborah will be a great Farmwise Chairman.
