A fun event for children to find out more about farming in Devon and learn where their food comes from first hand, where they can touch, feel and even smell how farms work!

Organisation and support

The event organisation is being facilitated by a small team of staff from NPS South West and Devon County Council the main individuals involved in the organisation of the event are:

Deborah Custance Baker (Chairman of Farm Wise Devon)

Deborah has a wide ranging involvement with the agricultural community – including as a pig farmer and Devon Agricultural Association Director.
She is passionate about involving and educating the young in all matters agricultural and food related. Her involvement in youth work has ranged from working with Schools to being a pony club organiser. She generates enthusiasm in everything she is involved with and Deborah will be a great Farmwise Chairman.

Claire Sampson (Event Organiser)

Claire has been involved with Farmwise since the first event in 2013 mainly organising livestock exhibits but now she is really excited to be taking the lead organising the main event, the Children’s Farm at the County Show and hopefully some new innovative projects as well. Claire works for NPS South West and for 13 years was one of the County Land Agents so she has strong links with the many tenants from the Devon County Farms Estate who support the events. Claire farms at home with her husband Dave. It’s a mixed beef and sheep farm and her two children are also approaching the Farmwise target age so expect the whole family to get involved.
